It features, a large color display with automatic backlighting to ensure easy readability indoors and outdoors, and a long-lasting rechargeable battery (with up to 14 hours of continuous use). It's also equipped with the patented IntelliGreen technology, enabling golfers to measure the full depth and shape of the green from any angle of approach, both on or off the fairway. Part of SkyCaddie's exclusive, professional 4-Star SkyCourses, IntelliGreen graphics provide an eagle's eye view of the green with an indicator representing a direct line-of-play from wherever you are on the course.

With an annual SkyPlayer Club Membership Plan (not included with purchase of device), you can easily download thousands of our professionally enabled SkyCourses. Three different levels of memberships are available, based on how many courses you want to store and play. If you do not want a membership and your course is not already available, you can record the front, center and back of each green with your SkyCaddie's quick set-up module, which takes about 10 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can the SG5 give me the distance to the pin?
A: The SkyCaddie, using the IntelliGreen graphics found on our professionally recorded SkyCourses, provides more information than just the distance to the pin. Once the line of play is selected on the graphical green outline, it provides the minimum carry to get on the green, the maximum limit you have to the back of the green, plus you can adjust to obtain the third distance of the approximate flag location. All three distances are provided simultaneously from any direction as you approach the green. You can then frame your shot in a much larger target area and select the best club. You will hit more greens and have shorter putts than a single number can provide.

Have been using SG5 for two years - definitely some issues

When I first bought the SkyCaddie SG5, it seemed good enough but over the last two years there have been many issues.

Most anoying is that no GPS will give you exact distance to any pin, just front, back and center. If you guess the wrong pin position, you could be one club off and congrats you have a really long put or chip for birdie.

Another issue with the SG5 is battery life: be prepared to recharge it every 2 rounds. If you forget to charge it, you are out of luck for your round, better bring a real caddie with you to measure distances.

Another anoyance: each unit can hold only 10 courses out of the box and 20 courses with a $19.95 "upgrade". If you travel, better bring your laptop to add new courses to the SG5.

Ready for another one? If you don't renew your annual subscription at $29.95+ , all the courses loaded into your SG5 are automatically ERASED. Your SG5 becomes an unusable piece of junk.

I have started using a Bushnell laser range finder and it does 90% of what the SG5 does, is much simpler in usage and design and the battery lasts forever (several months). You can shoot anything with it: a flag, a tree, a bunker, the front of a green. You get the EXACT distance to the flag, no guessing.

Bushnell sells a GPS, if they could combine a GPS and range finder into one unit, it would be game over for all the golf distance measurement manufacturers.
Annual Hold UP

Reviewer: NHGolfer,
I bought this unit SG5 a year ago and have really enjoyed using it, especially when not near a yardage marker it certainly helps to speed up play...One big CAVEAT to potential buyers that was not clear when I bought it, it is the same as a cell phone, without an annual service plan it is a useless hunk of plastic sitting in your bag. Be prepared to re-up every year for at least $29.95 and if like me you live on the border of 2 states and want to use it in both it will be at least $49.95....What do they care which states??? Its just a download to them anyway...would much prefer a 6 course plan, 12 course plan etc. Mine expired and when I renewed they took my renewal date back to the date it expired, even though it wasnt usable like charging for a hotel room that wasnt used last week. On line technical service was unsympathetic..."Thats the rules"...I will be looking for an alternative for next golf season. I also asked for help in getting some scratches off the screen was told to send it back and for 89.95 they will take care of it...thanks Ill take the scratches!!!
service is terrible

The SG5 worked well for a time, but when it failed, so did their customer service department. The customer service system is cumbersome, non-responsive and gives bad advice, I guess, just to get you off the line. I will never buy another product from them and I highly recommend others to seek another alternative
