Microsoft Streets & Trips with GPS Locator (2010)

I've used this many times in the past year or so. It works great. My wife and I RV a lot, so it really gets a workout. I particularly like the "Find Nearby Places" tool. It has taken us to some great eating places. It contains so much information that I can't even come close to describing the content. Suffice to say, if you own a laptop that you can take on the road, this GPS/mapping program is a must.
Works good, probably not for recreational user.

Reviewer: Mobile tech,
I purchased S&T 2010 w/locater to replace my older version from 07. I have no major complaints of either version except the only reason I replaced the older software was that I had broken my old gps reciever by not using the usb extention cable. It was a marginal price difference to buy the new package than to replace the gps unit alone. I use the program in my service van utilizing a ram-mount computer desk, hard wired power inverter, and full time satelite internet connection (used to run air cards). I could not imagine using it for personal use without the supporting equipment that I have set up. If you are looking for a gps system to use in your car for vacation or recreation, I would probably recommend one of the many self contained units on the market (but I do love the larger screen of the laptop!). Not much difference from old program to new. I dont think the new gps reciever is any more accurate, but had noticed the map updates only renew construction zones for route planning and does not update the actual maps. A good tool to use if you have internet access is the live bing search that overlays your map view to expand your search for locations past what is in the software. New features I do like are updated tool bar that seems to be a little more intuative and the coupons look pretty valuable if you have access to a printer. Some closing advise from experience and other reviews i have read, would be to use the gps extention cable, and every time before you start the gps tracking, configure the device. It only takes a few seconds and it seems to remedy any difficulties. Overall I am satisfied with the product, enjoying the ability to store many customer locations, easily accessing them, and even being able to transfer and print maps.
It Really Works

I had my doubts when I purchased this product, but the price was right, so I took a stab at it ... and am really glad that I did. It works beautifully and, with just a small amount of information from the instruction booklet, is basically intuitive.
