Useful for viewing GPS services on Mobile phones

Review Date: November 1, 2009
Reviewer: Praveen Ghanta,
I bought this primarily for viewing GPS services on Mobile phones (iphone) along with a dashboard friction mount. This serves the purpose I bought this for and the construction is of good quality. This has adjustable clamps on the sides and the bottom(which press against the phone ends and hold the phone), which can practically hold all the mobile phones on market. But you need to make sure that the adjustable clamps press pretty tight all the time, lest the device should fall.

At least for the iphone, the adjustable clamps on the bottom leave enough gap to use a (car) power charger cord. One of the disadvantages though, is that I can use the phone only in a portrait mode and not the landscape (rotated) mode, as the phone speakers get covered by the adjustable clamps in the landscape mode.

Overall, it's a decent product that serves the purpose.
Excellent windshield suction mount for PDA's like BlackBerry Storm

This is an excellent windshield suction mount for holding PDA's like my BlackBerry Storm. What is particularly useful on this specific model is that the side brackets which grip the PDA or GPS are individually vertically adjustable (both the tops and bottoms on each side), so you can position the side grips so they don't push in the side buttons on your device. My BlackBerry Storm was not perfectly designed because it has several buttons on each side, and most PDA mounts' grips are not adjustable, so when I tighten them to hold the PDA they push the buttons in and make the PDA malfunction. Because this model's grips are individually adjustable I can avoid that problem. Also, I mounted this on my windshield today, and the unit is extremely high quality for the price. My Storm is securely held in the high-quality foam cushioned grips, and the windshield suction mount is very solid, jitter-free and grips very strongly. The adjustable neck feels solid, and the PDA holder slots on to the neck very solidly. I will be ordering another one or two of these right away because the way this model works is exactly what I need for a Storm-type PDA, but it is very hard to find these anymore because the market has been flooded with cheap Asian exports that are poorly-designed and built. I will be stocking up on these while I still can. It's true that this kit does not contain the four-screw plastic mount pictured, but it has everything I need for a windshield-mount setup. I'm buying extra units of this because these holders do indeed typically only last for several months, but I have no alternative to using them; My Sirius satellite receiver already takes up the top of my dashboard, so the window is the only place I can mount my BlackBerry for its GPS function. If this is your particular problem, then I highly recommend this model.
Ok, not great

The flexible arm is not as sturdy as I would like, but the product is ok for use with an iphone.
