| The 855 is a replacement for a 760. I liked the 760 despite the usual Garmin flaws of clunky website, occasional mis-direction, and poor instructions. The 855 is bigger and badder, but so far I haven't used it for more than I did the 760. A trip from Wyoming to Houston in my 2010 Outback found the 855 trying to send me around Denver via a toll road, though I told it no pay roads. Turns out this was a feature designed to route me around mealtime traffic. Not a big deal, but it was irritating. It sent me North around San Antonio, when I saw Southern routes that were significantly shorter, so must assume (at 4pm) it might be traffic-related too. The Northern route was more touristy, which I DID want (LBJ Ranch, Museum of the Pacific War, others) to see, so it was acceptable. Around Houston, it helped a lot, but traffic always makes it hard to keep glancing at the screen. The voice was too soft (volume turned all the way up) at times for the traffic noise, but I found my way with only minor issues in Houson's spaghetti highways. Later return to San Antonio worked beautifully, and son and I got back to Houston late, but just fine. Return to Wyoming found me trying some secondary (U.S.) Highways instead of the Interstate, and with only a couple of missed turns, did just fine. I learned map reading in Boy Scouts, continued it in the Military, and 9 years travelling the State for work, so am a bit better at finding my way around than the average driver. I don't like having to recharge the battery every month, and often the 855 doesn't go into charge mode (not visibly) when I plug it into the USB port. Navigation on the website is not the best, and I still don't fully understand when I need to buy a city map versus the general map, as well as exactly how to switch from Wyoming to Colorado to New Mexico to Texas as I go along. It would be nice to have a simple screen (or decent instructions) on how to do it. But with perseverance and a few cuss words, the trip went very well (grandbabies' birthdays), and the 855 was a big help in planning distances, times, roads and turns. Now my phone offers similar service, but at $12/month (or $2.99/day), I'll stick with the 855 (it's paid off!). Useful device despite some shortcomings for us non-tech folks. And despite only a moderate battery life when walking around a city, it was also helpful there. |

| Bought the battery as a backup for my Nuvi gps. It holds its' charge very well and is very handy to have when out and about without easy access to an electric outlet. It's a no brainer for active users of gadgets that are powered by this particular battery. |

Solid replacement.
I made the mistake of leaving my Garmin in my car in freezing weather over a matter of weeks. Do not do this if you want your battery to last for any period of time.
This replacement did the trick, and works as fine as the original. |
